It was time well wasted and there's no way I trade a few more things that I could've crossed off my list for a day I'll never forget. No, I didn't get a thing done but I sure soaked up every minute of the memory we were makin'. And I count it all as time well wasted

Sunday

One Man's Junk is Another Man's Treasure

We had big posters in the windows at work that had to be replaced with the current media.  So they let me take them home.  I put one in my room and one in our living room.  I think it really adds to the decor!!

:)

Wednesday

There's Always Time for Organizing!

I am in the middle of an extremely busy week (4 assignments, 1 presentation, 16 hours of class and 30+ hours at American Eagle) but I took some time to get a new dresser on Kijiji.  Only $25 and it is PERFECT for helping me organize all of my stuff!  Quite the deal!

My New Adventure

Today I signed up with the YMCA's 5 Km race.

I am going to learn how to run.... hopefully by the end of February.

The countdown is on. Let the training begin! :)

Saturday

Study Abroad Banner

The study abroad office asked me to send a photo of my exchange.  Didn't realize I would be making up almost the entire study abroad banner to be used at all the Study Abroad Events. HAHAHA!

Thursday

Live Your Life, Love Your Job

Some of our awesome staff spelling out the American Eagle philosophy "Live your Life".
You can seem my Store manager Brenda (Y), and the three assistant managers are part of Life: Kailey (L), Dean (F) and Ildaco (E).  The rest of the letters are just some other staff members, and myself.  Such a great place to work!

Sunday

A Break from Crunch Time

Today we took a break from studying for some graduation photos!

Marwa's uncle took photos of Marwa, Luke, Mike, Jess, Danielle and I with our graduation gowns and they turned out great!

Different hoods represent our different degrees.
Bachelor of Arts - White
Bachelor of Nursing - Salmon
Bachelor of Science - Gold

Despite the rain, we had a lot of fun!

Enjoy!  As I get back to studying for my midterm tomorrow!

 We graduated.... ALMOST!

Friends forever!

Thanksgiving Weekend!

Great time at Fitzroy Park to celebrate Thanksgiving!  Great food, friends, fire and fun!

ISW Week!

Had a fantastic time introducing the first year students to life at Trent during our ISW (Introductory Seminar Week).

Saturday

Delicious Dinner.

Amazing dinner the other day. spinach salad, baked asparagus and chicken quesedilla (with onions, mushrooms, red pepper, cheese).  Yum Yum!

Sunday

Touring Peterborough

Sarah & Chels drove me to Peterborough on Friday with all my American Eagle clothing to wear for my new job.  They stayed the weekend and I showed them around the town.  We had a look at the Trent University campus, Peterborough Zoo, Beavermead Beach, Festival of Lights, and some of our nice patios!  A great weekend!

The real camel was to scary to pose with, but this one was cute!

We had dinner on the rooftop patio of Junction Nightclub with my friend Marwa (and her friend who was visiting from Toronto).  Great food and then we posed on the famous red wall.

Workin' Girl!

Thought I would update you all on my new job.

I am a sales associate at American Eagle... My dream part time job!

The first shift went really great and I am hoping for a steady increase of hours for the rest of the summer.

I spent the first 2 hours of my shift cleaning up the change rooms and then I helped people in that section of the store for 2 hours once we opened.

Each day we have a goal for how much denim to sell and how much overall profits we should make.  I was 2 pairs shy on selling jeans, but beat my overall sales goal.  So a successful first day.   I am already loving the job and I think I will do really well there!

No more shifts this week.  But as I said, hopefully I'll be getting more hours soon!

Enjoy your air-conditioning!  It's hot out there!

Tuesday

July '12 Update

Been a while since I did any blogging but time in Canada has been flying by.

Spent the month of May and a bit of June doing placement in a grade 4/5 classroom for my Queens education degree.  Got a lot of experience working on a little play The Pirate Girl, teaching about habitats, track and field day and even some field trips. Lots of fun!

Then my dad was in the hospital for a few weeks before having a quadruple bypass.  He just got home last week and I thought I would share this super cheesy video of his reunion with our dog Rags!  Super cute!

Enjoy your summers!

Thursday

Hello Canada!

Cream of broccoli soup, everything bagel with herb & garlic cream cheese, honey cruller & a LARGE (the old XL, so weird) hot chocolate.  A nice light dinner at 10pm...

Man, I have missed Tim Hortons!!

Waiting at my gate (eating my face off) for my connection flight.  Says it is on time!! I'll be in Ottawa by midnight!

I'm Leaving On a Jet Plane!

Bags checked, security cleared.  Just waiting at my gate to board the plane.

I'll be in Ottawa by midnight!

See you all soon!!

Sunday

Last Minute Tourist

This week I went to the Bajan Roots & Rythms dinner theatre show!  It was really awesome, great food and performance. The performance looked at the development of 'Bajan' culture as well as its influence of festivals.  This was really cool because it was a visual representation of many things I have learned in my course "Festivals & Rituals of Caribbean Societies".

The group of us, minus three.

Today I will be studying all day and I am spending the evening on a Sunset Catamaran Cruise.  Should be a lot of fun!

Only 4 more days left in the Caribbean! Time is flying by!

Wednesday

Man, I'm going to miss this!!

Just got back from a wonderful day at the beach, and now I am off to see the 'Bajan Roots & Rhythms' cultural dinner show at the Plantation House.  Can't believe its almost time to return to the cold

A Night at the Movies

Headed to see a $3 (Canadian) movie for cheap Tuesday and guess who we ran into?!?!

Rajed Fenty - RIHANNA'S BROTHER!  Not Rihanna, but we are getting warmer.
8 days for Rihanna to come to Barbados..... and for us to meet her. Here's hoping!

Friday

Trip to Trinidad & Tobago

I had a great vacation to Trinidad and Tobago this past weekend. Check out some of my favourite shots:

View of Port of Spain, some of the tallest buildings I've seen in 8 months.

Some 'Home Away From Home ' Shots taken in Trinidad!

Tori (Toronto) & I excited for some real french fries!
Despite enjoying some delicious local Roti and Doubles, we also indulged in some comfort food.

Caroni Bird Sanctuary, Trinidad.  A good time, despite the rain.

Pigeon Point, Tobago.  Saw my first goat race (very popular in Tobago) and an artificial waterfall

                                                         Kike (Germany) & I

Snorkeling in the Buccoo Reef, Tobago.

Nylon Pool, Tobago
An area of knee high water in the middle of the ocean!

(The sand is said to make you look ten years younger!)

Argyle Waterfalls, Tobago

Getting a back massage from the highest falls!

Botanical Gardens, Trinidad

We had some good luck, and some bad but overall the three of us had a great experience.  It was really interesting to see a caribbean country that is economically run by oil, versus tourism.  Trinidad is much more industrial than Barbados and Dominica, and appears to be nearly as ethnically diverse as Canada.  Tobago shares similar nature to Dominica, but feels even more laid-back than Barbados.  It was a very interesting to compare the different islands and I am very happy I had this opportunity.  Less than two weeks until I am back in Canada.  Let's hope there is no more snow then!
