It was time well wasted and there's no way I trade a few more things that I could've crossed off my list for a day I'll never forget. No, I didn't get a thing done but I sure soaked up every minute of the memory we were makin'. And I count it all as time well wasted

Trip to Trinidad & Tobago

I had a great vacation to Trinidad and Tobago this past weekend. Check out some of my favourite shots:

View of Port of Spain, some of the tallest buildings I've seen in 8 months.

Some 'Home Away From Home ' Shots taken in Trinidad!

Tori (Toronto) & I excited for some real french fries!
Despite enjoying some delicious local Roti and Doubles, we also indulged in some comfort food.

Caroni Bird Sanctuary, Trinidad.  A good time, despite the rain.

Pigeon Point, Tobago.  Saw my first goat race (very popular in Tobago) and an artificial waterfall

                                                         Kike (Germany) & I

Snorkeling in the Buccoo Reef, Tobago.

Nylon Pool, Tobago
An area of knee high water in the middle of the ocean!

(The sand is said to make you look ten years younger!)

Argyle Waterfalls, Tobago

Getting a back massage from the highest falls!

Botanical Gardens, Trinidad

We had some good luck, and some bad but overall the three of us had a great experience.  It was really interesting to see a caribbean country that is economically run by oil, versus tourism.  Trinidad is much more industrial than Barbados and Dominica, and appears to be nearly as ethnically diverse as Canada.  Tobago shares similar nature to Dominica, but feels even more laid-back than Barbados.  It was a very interesting to compare the different islands and I am very happy I had this opportunity.  Less than two weeks until I am back in Canada.  Let's hope there is no more snow then!

Thursday

We Made it in the Paper!!

My class made it into the Barbados local news magazine Hello!
They may not have spelt my name right, but my photo is still there!

Monday

Catching Up

Back from Trinidad & Tobago and spending the day catching up on my to do list, which includes updating the blog

On April 1st I went on the Island Safari tour.  It was a lot of fun and got to explore new parts of the island and some classics like North Point and Bathsheba!

On April 12th my team, Combined Territories, won 1st place in our final game of the soccer season against Trinidad & Tobago.  Our team was made up of people from Dominica, South Africa, Guyana, Finland, Canada and more!  Although it was intramural sports it is taken very seriously!  We would play games to a full crowd of people!  Our opponents were always Trinidad or Jamaica because the Barbados team never showed up.  The experience has taught me how loud the Jamaicans can cheer, and how no matter how much cheering there is against us, we still won!!

Other than that my time leading up to my trip was full of rehearsals for my Musical Theatre performance, which we did very well on!  It was great to see how much everyone improved, especially the non-singers.

(Me performing the song 'Some People' from the musical Gypsy)

Today's agenda includes a nap, studying, rehearsal at 6 and then hopefully watching the Sens win the series over the New York Rangers.

I have never wanted the Sens to win the cup more than now.  This is Alfie's year!!!

GO SENS GO!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!!

Wishing grandma an amazing birthday!! I hope you sing, dance and celebrate another fantastic year!!  You are a great person, and you have taught us all well.  I know all your kids, and grandchildren are thinking of you today from their different corners of the world: Kingston, Ottawa, Belgium and of course Barbados...  I hope you treat yourself today... and maybe get grandpa to order you some Swiss Chalet! Pretty soon we'll be at the Trailer, and back eating the delicious Chinese food together!

SUOMI/FINNISH PARTY

On Friday my Finnish friends Maiju, Anu, Aki, Krista and Jenna hosted a fantastic finnish party where they served delicious food, played us their finnish music (including their anthem) and we even did some trivia.

Did you know Nokia is a finnish brand?

It was a lot of fun and really interesting learning about their culture!

Both cakes were delicious! The one on the left is more sweet and the one on the right is a "sandwich cake" served at most Finnish weddings and special gatherings

Group photo of most of the people who joined in the fun.

Maiju (Front Row, Far Left), Krista & Jenna (Front row, on the two sides of Kathleen) hosted the party at their house.

Monday

Summer Paradise Video

The Simple Plan video my friends and I were a part of has been released.

Sadly, they didn't use much of the scene we were in but it is still really cool to see the different scenes around Barbados.

And I do make the slightest appearance in the background!!

At 3:23 in is my .10 seconds of fame!! ......Shared with Pierre from Simple Plan. hahaha

I saved the screen cause you may miss it when watching.  But this is me talking to famous cricket player Omar Phillips.

Even though we didn't really make it in the video we still got to meet them all and had a lot of fun.  And I have always wanted to be an extra!
