It was time well wasted and there's no way I trade a few more things that I could've crossed off my list for a day I'll never forget. No, I didn't get a thing done but I sure soaked up every minute of the memory we were makin'. And I count it all as time well wasted

Monday

Carnival Weekend!

This weekend was the KadUWIval Carnival.  It was held along the Spring Garden Highway from the Cruise Ship Port up to the University.  You are organized into bands (groups of people) and you jump up (parade).  They have trucks with huge speakers that drive along the road with you.  The day is filled with lots of music, and some pretty ridiculous costumes.  It was a very unique experience!

Only 44 days left in Barbados.  Definitely going to miss it here: the beaches, the weather, the pace, but mostly the people.

Find Nemo!

A beautiful photo from my dive on Tuesday.

Can you spot the fish?

Happy Phagwa! Happy Spring!

Today Canadians sprung forward the clocks so now there is no time difference to Barbados.  Hard to believe I have been here for a full daylight savings rotation.

Today I celebrated Spring at the Hindu festival Phagwa. What a blast!

The Pundit at the Hindu Temple believes that God is everywhere, and thus everyone should be invited to celebrate God with them despite gender, nationality, race, religion.  So our Cultural Studies class and a lot of my international student friends joined them in their celebration today.  They were extremely welcoming.  We ate tons of delicious food, listened to great music, and had a fantastic day!

We all arrived in white clothes, and were quickly COVERED in abeer (powder)

There was dry and wet coloured powder  You couldn't help but smile when you were covered in it.

The kids LOVED getting us all colourful!

.... and each other!

I hope your Spring started as joyfully as mine did.  Just over two months until I am back in Canada. Maybe the dye will be out of my skin completely by then.... hopefully!! hahaha!

Happy Phagwa! Happy Spring!

Friday

We meet again.

My friends and I ran into Sean Paul and Pierre (from Simple Plan) at a club called Priva (in Holetown).  Got a nicer picture than the one in our beach clothes. Sean Paul was surrounded by tons of security and photographers. But the Canadian singer Pierre was very friendly and willing to take photos with us.

I Like to Think of it as Testing the Barbados Medical System....

Went to the doctor's today.

I have an ear infection.  And an infection in my throat. They think the ear infection developed from untreated swimmer's ear.  And they are not quite sure what the throat is from, perhaps connected to the ear infection.  So two more kinds of antibiotics for me.  And back for a check-up next Friday.

But if you are going to be sick, might as well be in Barbados.

On a brighter side:  I am headed to the movies tonight.  It is 4 for 1 Friday which means the movie costs $4!!! BAJAN!! So $2 Canadian.  And popcorn is not overpriced like back home either! Let's hope I can enjoy it with my throat infection.

Why can't the movies be this cheap at home?

Hope everyone is doing well back in the "cold" North. haha!

Sunday

A Dream Come True!

Tonight, I fulfilled a life long with of being an extra.  When my friend Andie was coming back from the beach someone
told her they would be shooting a music video.  A little scared, we all went together.

What we found was the set of a Simple Plan & Sean Paul music video.  It was being filmed at the beach right down the hill from our university.

We met the lead singer of Simple Plan, Pierre. A grade 8 dream come true.
(Chelsea, Sarah, Sam and I went to see them in concert in Ottawa)

We then headed down to the set. Signed our waivers and were ready for our close-ups.

The producers told us where to walk, how to sit, smile and act.  It was a long process but a lot of fun.

Sean Paul arrived fashionably late, but we also got to meet him.

Overall, probably the best Sunday night in Barbados..... maybe in my life.

Now lets see if we actually make the final cut of the video.  They have lots of other shootings around Barbados over the next few days.

I really wish I would have showered today. Thought I would be staying in doing homework! hahaha!!
